Central Books Returns Policy for Retailers, Resellers and Wholesalers

These terms and conditions are applicable to BOOK returns only.

Titles are to be returned at the recipients expense.

FAULTY or DAMAGED STOCK

For books received in FAULTY or DAMAGED condition authorisation is NOT required.

Please return the COVER & TITLE PAGE ONLY within 20 days of receipt.

 

EVENT STOCK RETURNS

Authorisation is NOT required for EVENT STOCK RETURNS.

OVERSTOCK RETURNS

All returns requests should be submitted via BATCH RETURNS (www.batch.co.uk/returns).

Batch Returns is an easy-to-use web interface designed to streamline the returns process. Booksellers simply send a list electronically from the Batch Returns website and will receive a response from Central Books within a few hours. Once you have authorisation, you will be able to print out a bar-coded label and send back the books!

Batch is EASY and FREE. The system operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and provides you with an electronic record of all your transactions. Batch Returns can be used via the web or by using EDI and can be linked to your stock control system. And best of all – the service is FREE to booksellers!

Industry Returns Initiative

Central Books will grant authorisation for overstock returns, in line with the Industry Returns Initiative. The request will be assessed for compliance with the standard parameters as follows:

  • the quantity for return must not exceed the total number of copies (net of previous returns and valid pending authorised returns) supplied to the bookseller
  • no copies of the title for return will be accepted if supplied less than 3 months or more than 15 months of the invoice date
  • returns will not be accepted against quantities supplied on firm sale
  • books must be distributed by Central Books
  • books must be in re-saleable condition

 

UNAUTHORISED RETURNS

Please note, if a return is received which has NOT been authorised there may be a delay in processing your return. 

On receiving a return which has NOT been authorised, our Returns Team will check each book returned and any damaged stock received will be destroyed.

The return will then be processed and credit will be issued on all valid titles. Any titles which are found to be invalid (not in accordance to our returns parameters as detailed above) will not be credited. 

Please note, if invalid titles are received in a saleable condition they will be returned to the customer; however, if a title is found to be invalid and was received damaged it will have been destroyed on receipt and therefore we will be unable to return stock.

The current charge to return stock to customers for invalid stock is £10.00 per box to UK addresses.
