Deliveries/Despatches of Magazines

Deliveries/Despatches of Magazines

Our address is 50 Freshwater Road, Chadwell heath, London RM8 1RX but some postal databases have us down as 1 Unit , Heath Park Industrial Estate, Freshwater Rd, Dagenham RM8 1RX, this is exactly the same place at 50 Freshwater Road.  Deliveries should be made to the warehouse doors to the left of the buidling rather than through the small front door. Please mark magazine deliveries "Attention Magazine Department".

The warehouse is open for deliveries between 9am and 4.30pm (09.00 - 16.30) Monday to Friday.

To find us please click here or click building map to see where the delivery door is. The delivery bay is on the side of the building, deliveries should not be made to the front door.

Delivery and Release of Magazines to Shops

Every Thursday at 10.00 am we run a magazine release for all new issues that we have received in the last 7 days. Magazines that have arrived before that time are included on that week's release. We pack and despatch the larger UK orders first. Most of the larger orders are despatched on Thursday the rest of the UK shops' orders are despatched on Friday.  Except for the Highlands and Islands all UK orders that weigh over 2Kg are sent by DPD next working day delivery service. The smaller orders can take a bit longer as next day delivery is not economical. Once we have packed all the UK orders we pack the overseas orders. Delivery to overseas shops will vary greatly as different shipping methods are used. The system does mean that a magazine that arrives at 10.15 pm. on Thursday will sit in our warehouse for a full week before despatching begins.

We would recommend that publishers set a 4 pm (16.00) on Werdnesday deadline for printers' deliveries. All magazines should be delivered to The Magazine Department. Central Books, 50 Freshwater Road, London RM8 1RX. If deliveries are not made with a delivery note giving the number of boxes and the quantity in each we can not promise accurate stock figures. Magazine deliveries do NOT need to be booked in before delivery.

Bank Holiday Arrangements

We do make special arrangements for Xmas, New Year and Easter breaks, if you are publishing an issue very close to these bank holidays it is worth checking to see if we have special arrangements. In the week of Easter Good Friday we do our magazine release on Wednesday at 10.00 am. We do not run a magazine release between Christmas day and New Year's Day. We are not open on bank holidays.

Deliveries of Stock to Central Books

How Best to Deliver Magazines

The ideal delivery comes in boxes marked "Attention Magazine Department", with a clear delivery note stating the quantity in each box, the number of boxes and the total stock delivered.

We recommend that magazines are delivered in boxes to our warehouse. Some printers deliver in shrink wrap and others in strapped bundles. This is acceptable but is not good for storage and can lead to damaged stock. Some printers have delivered stock loose on pallets, this makes handling very hard and time consuming. It makes counting out stock much harder. Please do not delivery loose on the pallet. If stock arrives loose on the pallet we may charge for boxing it up and we can not guarantee against stock damages.

As per our contracts it is for the publisher to arrange and pay for the delivery to our warehouse. If you are delivering from outside the UK please make sure you have covered all the delivery and customs costs to our warehouse.

Publishers from outside of the United Kingdom

Please be sure to look at the additional information on our knwowledge base that will greatly help make you import into the UK easier. You will need to put our EORI number on the import paper work and you will need to quote the commodity code for magazines 4901990000. Please also send to magazines @ centralbooks.com a customs invoice and as much detail as possible about who is shipping the delivery, sender and shipper.

Example of good shiping information for magazines coming from outside of the UK. We would like you to send us a copy of this when the magazines are being sent and we think you should add this to the paperwork.
