Title
This article is really a sub-article of Understanding Book Sales Reports. Please click to see that page before this one, unless you have already seen it.
On our publishers' sales reports, invoices and picking lists the field used for Title is what we call the short-title on our data base.
There is only room for 36 characters in the short-title field. Sometimes we alter this title to match what is on the cover of the book so pickers spot the correct book when picking, this is rare.
We also have a long title (60 characters) and a sub-title (60 charaters) these are used on this website when listing titles.
In the example report shown at Understanding Standard Book Sales Report the first title on the report is Benefits Guide it has sold 14 copies in the month, 314 YTD, Year to Date (since last April) and 314 life.
