Music to Silence to Music: A Biography of Henry Grimes

The life story of Henry Grimes (1935–2020), an American double bassist and violinist. He recorded and toured with some the most imaginative American jazz musicians including Sonny Rollins, Cecil Taylor and Albert Ayler. This book examines his long and eventful musical career and recounts his creative life as musician and poet. He disappeared from the music scene from 1970 until 2002 until he was helped to return to New York and work as a musician.
